the index card

It’s a simple thing.

A plain white envelope with chicken-scratch handwriting in the mail. An index card that reads:

“Tiff-
I think you’re amazing.
-C.”

There’s nothing fancy about it. Simply stated affirmation on a simple index card. It couldn’t have taken her more than two minutes to write, address and mail it but I can sense the affection behind that 3×5 note. Friendship can be stunning in its simplicity, turning an index card into a keepsake and a single sentence into an expression of love across the miles.
